From the New York shows to the Royal Opera House, London there was a whirlwind of bold prints, colorful patterns and lots of headbands and scarves. Fashion weeks were filled and industry powerhouses, designers, celebs and influencers got front row blasted with fabulous and vibrant flashes of the brights, textures and silhouettes of the 80s and 90s with the Spring/Summer 2020 versions of versatility and variety.
Where New York Fashion week left off with primary and neons, London Fashion Week was filled to the brim with even more florals, prints and patterns. Both shows showed off matching headwear of the same rainbow of color pop with headbands, handkerchiefs and scarves wrapped around sometimes straight, sometimes permed hairstyles. (as seen in Vogue.com from Milan Fashion Show Week)
Every color on the pantone palette represented her in full array. Designers were not shy with saturation of color in all sorts of shapes and lines, repeating patterns from head to toe, literally. Many cultures represented as well where the East meets West on fabrics, wraps and flow.
From casual sensibility to the ultra red carpet extravagance. The runway shows were in some ways more like a gallery viewing as the artistic flare gave the designers their mode of expression as they stylized.
On Isabel Mann’s runway there was no shortage of Spring bouquet colors, prints and fresh florals. Matchback in the same designs flow to top each model with unmistakable boldness and flare.
For new brands like YCH, there were not only bold chartreuse tones but also bold social statements. Their concepts were based on the ideas of feminism from the wild west days to current #metoo movement of feminine strength and resiliency. Expressions of women over the centuries who have refused to let the cultural restrictions hold them back from greatness.
Amid the neons and brights, there were also collections of stark whites and romantica pale pastels like Maria Barreca that graced LFW runways. If this doesn’t make you feel feminine and free I don’t know what would.
I decided to join in the headband celebration myself and had fun putting a cap on my own stand out spring color pattern mixing my gingham checks with a tropical floral headdress. And of course not forgetting to accessorize with a whimsical and equally bright lipstick clutch. This season is one to make a statement and wear it with unabashed confidence.
Also worth mentioning is that my Hairdreams extensions did not disappoint on completing this style. The extra body and length boost by my Hairdreams puts me in the “selling it” mode!
For an awesome guide on how to achieve and personalize this hair trend, see this recent feature in Harpers’ Bazaar recent article on the subject, “7 Cool Girl Ways to Style a Scarf”.
According to their scarf styling tutorial, you too can look like a retro Hollywood princess with a few simple steps, “Fold your scarf in half to create a triangle, drape the triangle over your head to line your upper forehead, cross two ends under the chin, and tie into a knot at the back of the neck. An oversized silk scarf is best for this modest look. “
