This really does taste like a margarita. A mouthwatering watermelon margarita, green monster, watermelon spinach smoothie style. You know, with that tangy sweetness that makes you beg for more? I think my husband bragged about this watermelon smoothie for a good 10 minutes to one of our friends who was considering green monster smoothies.
This is the second summer I’ve been cutting up watermelons and sticking them in the freezer. You don’t really need it to be frozen, but I love that I can drink this out of season with a little extra preparation. Guilty pleasure: I also like to make watermelon sorbet.
Healthy breakfast smoothies are a great way to start your day. Everyone has their favorite add-ins for green smoothies, whether its almond milk, frozen banana or other frozen fruit, Greek yogurt, protein powder, the options are endless.
THE NUTRITION: GREEN MONSTER SMOOTHIE
Spinach and watermelon are both great sources of nutrients. Watermelon is often mistakenly thought to be only high in vitamin C, but it actually contains 1.5 times the amount of lycopene as a raw tomato.
Did you know that watermelon is considered both a fruit and a vegetable?
Watermelon has a very interesting family tree that makes the whole watermelon edible…rind and all! Perfect for a green monster smoothie. Even more, the potassium levels are out of this world. Great to have fresh watermelon if you’re feeling dehydrated or instead of a sports drink.
Guys I totally love this smoothie so much, I take it hiking with me. It’s a must try!

Blend it all together!
If you aren't using a high-speed blender, blend the greens in the orange juice first and hemp seeds (unless you are using a powdered protein instead). That way you will have a smoother texture.
Feel free to create your own variations on this watermelon green smoothie as well.
Here are some healthy smoothie variation ideas:
Replace the peaches with frozen strawberries (watermelon + strawberries are great together)
Add fresh ginger for an anti-inflammatory boost
Add chia seeds for an omega kick
Turn it into a smoothie bowl by reducing the orange juice
