We women really care about our hair. Right? So when our world went into lockdown, and each of our states announced that we no longer had access to our favorite hair salons, we women really went into a state of panic! We know what our natural hair looks like–or maybe we try to forget. Covid-19 is a stressful event enough without adding to that emotional stress! We know about gray hair, curly hair, hair loss, hair color problems, and the myriad of other real-world hair concerns.
I suspect most of us started having nightmares, when the Coronavirus pandemic was announced–or at least daymares, about what would happen to us if we couldn’t access our salons in a few weeks. And, when that turned out to be more than a few months, we had several reactions:
Some of us still felt that anxious fear that it could take a lot of time to restore the hair we had come to know and love if we had to let it go professionally uncared for during an unknown space of time. I mean, we can do our own nails, if we have to–after we tear off the acrylics and such. But, how can I improve my hair health was no longer an idle question. It became a crisis.
And, we don’t have to do facials in-salon. But, hair? Now that’s another story. If we’re going to be seen, we need our hair salons. And, we had no idea how long it would be before we could get back to them. We had questions:
What does your hair say about your health? How fast will my uncut hair grow? Is hair loss a sign of poor health? What if my hair is thinning? Will thinning hair grow back? Can my pillow cause hair loss? And, even if I’m not sleeping well, can sleep loss cause hair loss (also known as alopecia areata)?

Some of us stepped back a little to look at the benefits of working at home, not having to go out, and not having to get our hair in public-view shape. We started pulling our hair back into ponytails. We began enjoying our headwraps, headbands, ornamental barrettes or scrunchies. And, when we had a Zoom meeting, we could disguise a lot of flaws that the cameras didn’t pick up—or we just turned off the video altogether and let our voices join that meeting without the stress of imperfect hair at home.
Our hair is part of our self-image, of who we are. On “bad hair days,” or “hat hair days,” we don’t want anyone to even see us. We stay home. Or we wear a hat, and then have a second “hat hair” day for those ‘social distance’ days.
Another hair stressor we women deal with are things like split ends, damaged hair, dry hair, limp hair, tangled hair, telogen effluvium, and any other configuration that isn’t our best hair.
When forced to do self-care for ourselves and our hair, we started noticing more of the fact that our hair wasn’t styled. We didn’t know what to do. No one trained us for lockdowns. No one imagined this.
Except for me. I had a solution. I had Hairdreams extensions and thankfully, had only recently had them renewed before the lockdown.
Let me tell you what a difference that made.
Hairdreams hair extensions turned what could have been my own personal hair nightmares into the Dream the company promises–while remaining mostly contactless at the salon with the Laserbeamer Nano–my whole head of hair takes less than an hour. My hair extensions were still vibrant and healthy—they’re made of genuine, high-quality, human hair. The normal routine I follow to keep my Hairdreams extensions clean and shiny, was still exactly the same.
I didn’t need a salon to do the upkeep since they last 4-6 months. I didn’t need to hide my hair for my Zoom meetings, because my pride and joy, my mane looked wonderful. I could hold my whole head of hair up high even for a quick grocery run. And, the care for my own hair also needed no more than its usual beauty regimen.
Hairdreams took my appreciation of what high-quality hair extensions can really do to keep healthy hair “alive,” even without monthly professional assistance;
in fact, I’ve had the same extensions for 8 months with zero need to visit their Los Angeles salon. They may not save lives, but they save hair!
That did a lot to reduce the anxiety of the pandemic for me. I felt a strange sense of peacefulness when the calendar pages turned month after month, and I still had good hair. I feel good!
Sure, the pandemic has caused anxiety in many other areas. But, I can tell you truthfully, hair wasn’t one of them for me thanks to Hairdreams and their exceptional hair extensions and even their detailed care instructions which I already knew how to follow.
So, if you’re still fretting over how to keep your hair in top shape throughout the year or during any future lockdowns, I encourage you to explore the best choice of extensions with Hairdreams. With talk of a recurrence of this awful virus and possibly another lockdown, you might want to check out your nearest Hairdreams salon while it’s still open and available so you, too, can have stress-free, really healthy hair. I assure you, you won’t regret it for a single day. Hairdreams discounted vouchers are even available to make it easier to get dream hair without paying full price.
Hairdreams’ Creative Director, Erin Hayden shares some at-home extensions tips during a pandemic:
- Brush, brush, brush! Brushing your hair extensions every day is essential to prevent tangling and matting. Hairdreams’ TRI-BRISTLE EXTENSION BRUSH WITH SHINE INFUSER is the best hair brush– hands down. It has multiple layers of different types of bristles to stimulate and release all the natural oils from your scalp and help distribute them all the way to the ends, resulting in shinier, luminous hair.
- Before bedtime, tie your hair back (with big scrunchies) or braid hair to help keep hair in place through the night. Sleeping on a silk/ satin pillowcase or sleeping cap is also gentler for your hair. Tie your hair back before swimming to help avoid unnecessary tugging on your hair follicles while in the water.
- Wash hair less frequently. Since you have more hair, it will feel less oily.
- I give all of my clients the PH & SHINE SPRAY. Many don’t realize the importance of pH balance for hair. When your hair is properly pH balanced, the cuticle will naturally close and eliminate frizz. This unique spray helps balance the pH and moisture levels of your own hair as well as your hair extensions. It detangles the hair, providing superior shine to reduce static preventing fly-aways.
- Being home means less styling and less stress on the hair with hot styling tools. It’s the perfect time to treat and condition hair. I highly recommend the HAIR FLUID which can be use on wet or dry hair. This leave-in fluid is great for damaged hair and split ends. It is intensively nourishing and regenerating which makes split ends look smoother and silkier.
