(Part 2 of my extensions review)
I feel so pretty!! After 4 months of having my Hairdreams hair extensions in my hair, I can confidently tell you these extensions are world class. Typical extension don’t last more than 1-2 months and look fake as they grow out. These look BETTER than my own hair. Even after months and months of wear!
Hairdreams extensions not only look natural, but they feel so natural that I’ve actually forgotten that they’re even in my hair. After 4 months they still blend seamlessly, get more comfortable every day they grow, and are practically indestructible. I can pull on them and style them almost completely the same as my own hair. They even look great air-dried because these extensions are real, uncoated hair just like my own hair. They also have a curly hair texture, but with the frizz of my own hair greatly reduced with my new routine. I wake up with beautiful hair every day!
But even though you could theoretically ignore all the normal hair extension rules, with proper care, these extensions can last up to 6 months depending on how fast your hair grows and what kind of care you put into them.
Here’s how to extend the life of your gorgeous hair extensions:
1. Wash your hair less
I’ve discovered washing my hair twice with Hairdreams Regeneration Care and rinsing my scalp with Apple Cider Vinegar allows me to go up to 1.5 weeks without looking oily or having an itchy scalp. This normalizes my pH, minimizes heat styling between washes, and saves me time! Hairdreams also has a pH & Shine Spray that neutralizes the pH-level of hair after shampooing and I’ve found this to be a crucial step in my routine. You can use this product all over your hair like a leave-in conditioner. It made a huge difference in my flyaways, shine, and overall hair health.
2. Brush your hair from root-to-ends daily
Hairdreams recommends using their brush daily which helps separate the bonds and distributes natural oils effectively. This brush has great grip while still protecting your real hair. Taking the time to brush will prevent any knotting, and keep your hair extensions nice and shiny. It’s also super helpful to separate the bonds from each other to prevent knotting.
3. Keep the moisture locked in daily
Hairdream’s Hair Fluid is amazing because it doesn’t take much and you can put it all over. The formula is made for extensions and helps prevent split ends. I’m a stickler about mixing this fluid with a heat protectant serum before styling my hair with any heat tool.
4. Braid your hair at night
Braiding my hair every night has kept my hair from knotting. The couple of days I didn’t braid my hair, I’ve really regretted it. My hair knotted up and it wasn’t fun. You really do have to think about it like real hair–and then remember that it’s not. It’s only attached to your hair, not your scalp, which means knotted up hair can be really bad for your hair health. But the great thing about braiding every night is I always wake up with lush waves and haven’t had to do any additional styling above some salt spray/hair fluid for maintaining the moisture, volume, and texture of my hair.
When I don’t want waves in the following day, I twist my hair on top of my head and put in lots of bobby pins. This involves a little extra styling work in the morning, but it’s still a great option.
5. Follow-up with your Hairdreams stylist
Every person is different! If you have any issues separating the bonds, adjusting to having bonds in your hair, or feel itchy, it’s important to check-in so you can maximize how long your extensions last. Don’t be afraid to reach out with questions or make a follow-up appointment! Making an appointment is especially necessary when it’s time to take out your extensions. These won’t fall out on their own, unlike other techniques.
I know you’ll enjoy your extensions as much as I do! Now I’m off to go enjoy my effortless hair. 😉
