Only an hour or so away from home, I often pass through Los Angeles on my way. Or could even take the time just to discover a new eatery, shop, etc. But for my purposes of finding the best staycation option, I wanted to fully take advantage of one of the premier gems of the West Coast metro.
From the moment I walked into the Four Seasons foyer which was filled with fresh and delicately fragrant flowers, I knew I would enjoy my stay, but that was just the beginning. Stepping into luxury from the outside bustle of Los Angeles was a welcome transport. Elevating all senses of sight, smell, sound and touch.
The warm hospitality of the staff is a perfect delight, even with unusual requests. You get the sense that they are hoping you’ll give them an unusual request. And I’m sure with their history of clientele they have heard it all.
In my case, it was a bashful moment of not being able to get the lens off my camera to switch it out for a wide angle. Since I doubt anyone in hospitality has a job description of “help your guests with their camera equipment,” I wouldn’t have expected them to notice let alone spend much time on my personal and somewhat minor plight.
Instead of watching my struggle, they put in a valiant team effort to help me with equipment until the problem was happily solved. Turns out, maybe they DO have it in the handbook. For it seems that nothing is ever too much to ask when you stay at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills.
Their goal here is to serve your needs and to take it one step further to go beyond your expectations. This is the epitome of luxury, in my opinion. For me, it was accomplished on my stay.
There is literally a whos who of past guests from Hollywood Walk of Famers to people of influence worldwide. Despite the high pressures of having kept the privacy of countless celebrities (Elvis Presley, Warren Beatty and Steve McQueen to name a few), they have managed to keep the cool California vibe in tact.
After my personal interaction with the staff, it’s no wonder Héctor Elizondo’s character played such a memorable role in our favorite Julia Roberts film, “Pretty Woman.” These scenes are part of the fabric of West L.A. So it’s a pleasure to report that Four Seasons lived up to their good reputation.
This staff has heart and has also mastered the art of professionalism–not unlike Barney Thompson. They balance the high end standard of customer service with a very personal touch making you feel as if they know you and you’ve been coming there for years. You’ll want to turn to this well versed staff for any assistance. In fact, if you want to feel like Pretty Woman for a day, that can be arranged!
The suite offered more than enough room for my husband and I to feel comfortable lounging indoors before heading out to the city. The main living space room was recently updated and styled with a sleek acrylic console table, a functional desk facing the Hollywood Hills, fashionable modern lounge chairs, couches, dining table and bar cart. Our luxury suite had two breezy and light bedrooms and beautifully artistic bathrooms, each adjacent to the main living space and donned with Ferragamo toiletries.
The fantastic view from our private balcony was my favorite feature, with a cityscape stretching to the nearby Hollywood Hills. I especially loved the inviting chaise lounge chair placed just outside the bedroom onto the terrace.
My only note was the vintage latches on the doors are a little worn from age and make it tough to open on the balconies, but then again, you could definitely say that adds to the charming quirks of this 1920’s hotel. Peering from the balcony at the hills can certainly spark your imagination of being one of the VIP guests of the golden age.
And, of course, not the least of the enjoyable amenities is this gorgeous bathtub! I always have to mention the quality and mood of the bathroom as that is a key factor in the enjoyment of a hotel for me. And I’m sure for most.
There is something so right about basking in a rich layer of bubbles, marble and aromatherapy. This makes it a true vacation treat no matter how brief. Either to begin the day fresh or to bring a relaxing close to an active adventure, the bath can lift an experience to the fullest.
For getting around town to the vast selection of top notched restaurants and shopping, it’s easy to call an Uber, Lyft, or cab from here. If you’re in the market for a pastry that tastes as good as it looks, stop by Chaumont Bakery and Cafe which also has a full breakfast and lunch menu.
Of course, You could always travel on foot to really capture the sights and sounds of westside of L.A. The Four Seasons, Los Angeles is conveniently located just 10 minutes from Rodeo Drive. So, if you are looking to make the most of your time in West L.A. this is a hard to beat location. Feeling refreshed and ready to do my own exploration of the Rodeo!
